Oil Seed Extractions

Production Technician

Oil Seed Extractions (OSE) is an Ashburton based company who develop, produce and supply high quality speciality seed oils to the global food, skincare and health product sectors (www.seedoils.co.nz), and is a subsidiary of the Midlands group of companies.

Due to ongoing growth we are currently recruiting for an additional Production Technician to join our existing team. The key focus of this permanent full time role based in Ashburton, is to work closely with the Production team in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the processing facility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate oil extraction processes, filtration and packaging
  • Bulk Stock Control – organise, locate and prepare, large amounts of bulk stock for dispatch
  • Handle inwards and outwards goods , and on-site product storage
  • Complete consignment records, stocktakes, and general logistic administration records

What you will need to bring to this role:

  • Strong productivity and time management abilities
  • Initiative and a capability to work unsupervised.
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Friendly attitude and cooperative values
  • Strong and physically fit as some heavy lifting will be required
  • Forklift licence and Food Handling experience/qualifications would be an advantage.

Intermediate/Senior Bee Keeper

Midlands Apiaries Limited, is one of the largest South Island beekeeping businesses operating hives for honey production and seed crop pollination predominantly in the Mid Canterbury region.

Our soon to be built state of the art honey shed, along with our all new fleet of trucks and equipment, provides our business with the most up to date technology.

Based in Ashburton we are looking for an intermediate to senior beekeeper with at least 5 years’ experience working with bees.

The successful applicant would be a person that:

  • Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with bees.
  • Has a high work ethic.
  • Enjoys working outdoors.
  • Isn't scared of a bit of old fashion hard work.
  • Is practical.
  • Is prepared to listen and learn.
  • Has the ability to work flexible hours.
  • Enjoys being part of an efficient team.

As well as the above it would be an advantage if you:

  • Have carpentry skills for building and repairing hive boxes.
  • Have a Class 2 license.

Midlands Contracting

Agricultural/Transport Operator

Midlands Contracting Ltd is an Ashburton based company providing specialist contract services to Midlands Seed and other seed companies throughout Canterbury.

We are currently seeking a motivated person who can carry out the following duties:

  • Agricultural contracting specialising in planting, inter-row spraying, male removal in hybrid crops and other specialist contracting work.
  • Loading and transporting of export shipping containers from our supply stores to port and includes daily documentation requirements.
  • Maintenance and servicing of contracting machinery.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of arable crop production and machinery and have previous truck driving and loading experience. You must also hold a current Class 5 licence, be physically fit, able to multi task and enjoy being part of a team.

This is a permanent full time position with extended work hours during seasonal peak times. We offer a very competitive remuneration package and a company vehicle. Local area knowledge would also be an advantage.
