Midlands Seed Ltd was established in 1990, to support and encourage the production and export of arable crops from New Zealand. Since then, the company has grown rapidly to become one of New Zealand’s top producers and marketers of vegetable and herbage seeds, dried peas and oilseeds, as well as cereal grains.

Midlands Seed (Tasmania) Ltd was established in 2004. Its parent company, Midlands Seed Ltd (NZ) was established in 1990, and a combination of technical expertise, innovation and a confidence in R & D investment has contributed to a highly successful business venture. During this time, Midlands have established international markets for a diversity of crops produced in the heart of New Zealand’s agricultural hub, the Canterbury plains.
Midlands Properties Limited
Midlands Properties Ltd was incorporated in 2002, to develop predominantly commercial properties, and was initiated with the purchase of the current Midlands Seed office location and surrounds in Ashburton. The continued growth of this business throughout the South Island means Midlands Properties Ltd are actively seeking to secure new tenants.

Midlands Farming Limited
Midlands Farming Ltd categorises financially the land lease activity undertaken to produce highly specialised seed crops. This venture was undertaken to ensure that farmers were never offered crops that Midlands Seed Ltd were not totally confident of, in regard to the financial outcome.

Midlands Contracting (Ashburton) Ltd
Midlands Contracting (Ashburton) Ltd was established in 2004 to provide specialist contract services to the seed industry. Since the companies inception the New Zealand seed industry has continued to enhance its global reputation for the production of high quality specialty seeds. Midlands Contracting remains focused on positively contributing to this sophisticated industry sector through technical innovation, alongside its commitment to customer service.
The two main areas of enterprise that have been developed are export certified container transportation and precision agricultural contracting.
Midlands Apiaries Limited
Midlands Apiaries is based at Staveley, a small village at the foot of Mt. Somers, (10 minutes south of Mt. Hutt) on the Eastern flank of the Southern Alps, overlooking the Canterbury Plains of the South Island of New Zealand.
Our 2,700 hives of bees are divided between the foothills area where Honey Dew is gathered, and the fertile plains where the main crop is Clover Honey. A small number of hives are also moved to pollinate blackcurrant and other specialist crops.
Oil Seed Extractions Limited
OSE was established in 2002 with a primary focus to develop, produce, and supply high quality specialty seed oils to the global food, skincare and health product sectors. We specialize in natural nutritional oils and food ingredients rich in essential fatty acids such as Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, Omega 3) and Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). All products are developed with the intent to benefit and promote health and well-being in today's lifestyles.
